A Crafter's Lament ~ by dusty bunker

As crafters, we lament over...
people who carry on long conversations with their neighbors directly in front of our table, blocking paying customers.

people who set coffee cups on our crafts.

people who offer to buy two of our craft for the price of one.

people who ask if we have discounts for seniors, Triple A, or BJ's club.

people who paw through every item, ask one thousand questions, then walk away empty handed.

people who tell their companion they could easily do what we've done, then ask for our supplier, our pattern, and our technique.

people who smiled proudly at their uncontrollable kid who has an ice cream cone in one hand and chocolate smeared over the other, and is fondling our craft.

people who stand before our table with cameras or sketch pads diligently recording every one of our crafts.

people who grab our craft, show it to their friend, then stuff it or drop it from a high elevation back on our table.

people who tell their friend they can get our craft in the Dollar Store for half the price.

So why do we do it? Because art is in our souls. We love the process of creation, those moments of quiet meditation, when our inner child beams in on her secret world of imagination and total concentration where nothing exists but the purity of the creative act itself. And when that one person comes along and tells us how talented we are, we get that warm feeling inside and we know we're in the right place.~
